Texas Judo is a co-ed judo club at the University of Texas. We are open to all skill levels and strive to better ourselves mentally and physically as individuals through the art of Judo. We practice Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 6:00-8:00 pm and Sunday from 4:00-6:00 in the RecSports Center. We all share a passion for this ancient sport and love seeing it thrive and our members succeeding in it!
We are one of the smaller sports organizations on campus with around 20 active members and 4 coaches, with about 2 coaches running each practice. We are non-profit and are run entirely by students. Our dues are only $40 for each semester. These dues allow us to send our members to some of the smaller judo tournaments around Texas. For these tournaments, entry fees are usually around $40 and often only take one day for us to travel, compete, and come home. Entry fees for the larger tournaments though are between $55 and $100, and weigh-ins are typically the night before, which means we must cover hotel costs and meals for all of our competing members. Even if just a few members compete, these costs add up quickly.
With your help, we aim to send our team to tournaments, both big and small, so we can show the world what UT has to offer! Every single donation will help us send our members to tournaments across Texas, and allow them to improve their skills while also bringing home some medals for UT. We appreciate any help you can provide, even if it just puts us $1 closer to going to a tournament. Thank you and Hook ‘em!
