Below you will find answers to many common questions about 40 Hours for the Forty Acres.
What is 40 Hours for the Forty Acres?
Now in its fourth year, 40 Hours for the Forty Acres is an annual university-wide, 40-hour fundraising event designed to inspire students, alumni and friends to make a gift to the university or to the programs or schools on campus that are meaningful to them. For 40 hours, we encourage you, Longhorn Nation, to come together as a community and show your support.
When is it?
40 Hours for the Forty Acres will run from 6 a.m. on Wednesday, April 12, 2017, through 10 p.m. on Thursday, April 13, 2017.
Why should I participate in 40 Hours for the Forty Acres?
Philanthropy has become an increasingly critical part of the university’s support. It funds many scholarships for students who otherwise would not be able to attend college and supports the university’s top-notch faculty, state-of-the-art facilities, and hands-on learning opportunities for students. Giving back is one of the greatest things we can do for our university and for future Longhorns. Whether you can give $5 or $500, you are part of Longhorn Nation, and you can help make a difference.
When the campaign is live, you can click the "Give Now" button at the top of the website. If you've reached this page before or after the campaign, please click here to make your donation.
What will my donation fund?
It’s up to you! You may designate any area of the university that is important to you. Whether your heart is with your college or school or you have an interest in a specific research initiative or student program at UT, you are free to choose what your gift supports. When you make your gift, you can select from a list of colleges, schools and units.
What if I don't see my school or organization on the list?
If you do not see the school, organization or program that you would like to give to, please select either "Area of Greatest Need" or "Other." If you select "Other," please scroll down to the comments field and type in where you would like your donation to go.
How can I become a Longhorn Leader?
Longhorn Leaders support 40 Hours for the Forty Acres by donating a leadership-level gift of $2,000 or more to support the Challenge Pool. These funds will be distributed to colleges, schools, units or student organizations as rewards for winning various challenges throughout the 40-hour campaign. Become a Longhorn Leader and extend the impact of your gift by inspiring other Longhorns to invest in the areas they love most at UT.
