UT PGE students need your support to replace the computers in the Learning Resource Center (LRC). Having a state-of-the-art computer lab allows students to learn and be skilled in the industry software recruiting companies expect their new hires to know. Offering graduates well-versed in industry applications will help maintain UT PGE’s No. 1 ranking (US News and World Report).
The Learning Resource Center (LRC) offers 50 computers and three scanners for use by UT PGE students. Over 500 UT PGE students use the LRC over the course of the year. Topics such as reservoir engineering, computer programming, well logging and petrophysics are taught in the room, which was last renovated in 2012. The furniture and fixtures installed at that time are in excellent condition, but the computers installed during the renovation are now 4+ years old and have naturally become outdated.
Our goal is to replace the computers and monitors with high-end Dell models to run specialized industry-standard software, which requires faster processors, more memory, better graphics cards, and increased screen real estate.
It will cost $2,000 to upgrade one computer in the lab. Each donor (levels Select Supporter and above) will be recognized accordingly on a plaque inside the upgraded Learning Resource Center and on each computer the donor funds.
Supporter – Donations to partially fund a computer
Select Supporter – Donation of 1 to 5 computers
Premier Supporter – Donation of 6 to 10 computers
Distinguished Supporter – Donation of 11+ computers
