What is the work of the DDCE? We are:
Make your gift count by supporting one of our highlighted initiatives below or another DDCE program of your choice.
We invite you to make a gift today to help ensure that all students at UT Elementary School are successful on their journey from Pre-K to Ph.D. and beyond.
UT Elementary School is a public, open-enrollment charter school, operated by The University of Texas at Austin, that serves 304 East Austin students in pre-kindergarten through fifth grade annually. More than 50 percent of UT Elementary School students come from low-income households, and most will be among the first generation in their families to attend college.
Now in its 14th year, UT Elementary School represents an effort to apply new knowledge produced in an academic setting directly to classrooms in urban schools. Your gift will support signature school programming, which includes:
NLP is The University of Texas at Austin’s outreach program for Title I elementary and middle schools in Austin. We help over 5,000 second through sixth grade students increase their overall grade average and attendance by giving them tutors and incentives.
Most if not all of the students participating in NLP come from low socioeconomic backgrounds. More than 300 UT student volunteers from several student organizations and student government provide tutoring, homework assistance and organize on-campus activities for the NLP students.
Incentives include tours of UT with faculty and students, attending academic and athletic events on campus, and a scholarship for completing the program. Your gift will support events like Spring Jam and College for a Day where elementary and middle school students experience being on campus like real college students.
Make your gift before the 40 hours runs out to one of the initiatives above, or you may give to any DDCE program of your choice by selecting “Other” in the drop down menu. Thank you for your support!
