We are a Student Organization dedicated to providing students with opportunities to gain broader insight into the engineering profession and supplementing their professional and intellectual growth. Our Collegiate Design Series (CDS) teams offer an avenue for students to challenge themselves and gain hands-on experience invaluable to their professional development.
Our CDS teams, design, build and race a formula-style race car every year to compete in the largest international design competition against 80+ universities from across the nation and around the world. Longhorn Racing, our internal combustion Formula SAE team that founded the Formula SAE competition in 1981, has grown from a small group of dedicated engineers to a multi-disciplinary team now consisting of a broad range of students from Mechanical, Aerospace, Biomedical, and Chemical Engineers to Business, Natural Science, and Liberal Arts majors. This year, Longhorn Racing Electric will also begin producing UT Austin’s first electric Formula SAE car. With these two design teams, we provide students with opportunities to not only gain engineering skills outside of the classroom, but also learn and build tangible skills such as project management, resource allocation, and leadership that will translate into our future careers.
Your contribution would not only help Longhorn Racing continue their tradition of excellence, but will now also aid Longhorn Racing Electric build their first student-designed high-powered electric race car in UT history. We would greatly appreciate your support for UT SAE and our student design teams.
