Building Vehicles and Having Fun
UT SAE is not your ordinary student organization. Its aims may be similar, but its methods are beyond that of any other you will come across. We not only provide our student members with out-of-the-classroom activities to enrich their academic and professional lives, but we also give students a home to find their true passion. Our goal is to allow our students to discover what excites them.
We bring in top academic and corporate speakers from across the country to discuss topics ranging from current-day product development processes to emerging technologies to visions of the future. We provide leadership development opportunities, including UT SAE specific invitations to leadership conferences, opportunities to lead within the UT SAE organization, and opportunities to serve in our Austin community. Through participation in the various UT SAE engineering design teams, our students get the opportunity to explore possible career options, whether that be to design a racecar with the Longhorn Racing Combustion or Electric teams, leverage alternative energy with our Solar team, or dive deep and explore with the Underwater Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROV) team. UT SAE isn’t just a place to grow, it’s a place to find out who you really are.
Our design teams are engaged in four of the largest hands-on projects at The University of Texas, and the vehicles we design and build take part in some of the largest collegiate design competitions in the world. Participation in these projects gives our students invaluable, tangible skills in project planning and execution, efficient allocation of resources, and teamwork. These skills will help build a successful student’s future. A UT SAE student’s future.
UT SAE has grown exponentially and achieved several milestones over the last couple of years. We have taken the Solar and Underwater ROV teams under our wing. We had our first ever Electric team in competition. This year our Combustion team achieved its best finish in the last five years, second best in the last decade. We’ve experienced a 300% increase in total membership and significantly expanded the diversity of our student membership base.
Needless to say, the past couple years at UT SAE have been very exciting. However, this progress would not have been possible if not for your generous support. We do all these things hand-in-hand with our partners, and we hope you will help us capitalize on this momentum and be part of UT SAE’s continual growth. If you have any questions, or would like to learn more about UT SAE, please don’t hesitate to contact me. I am always available to discuss our future with anyone.

Chris Kudla
