Below, parents explain why it is so important to give more than the low tuition in order to receive the foundation of a lifetime.
" I remember receiving the call in March of 2012 that a space had opened for my first child to attend the Child Development Center at San Jacinto. At the time, I breathed a sigh of relief because having her on campus and not having to pack meals for her every day would be so much more convenient for myself. However, it soon meant much more than that.
The administration and the teachers here have become my tribe, my village that has helped me raise two children while performing the juggling act of being a mom who works full-time. My daughter has excelled in elementary school because of the foundation UT laid for her education. My son, still at the San Jacinto CDC, looks forward to going to school every day. My husband and I are able to rest assured that this excellent program, provided by a top-tier university and my own alma mater, is the best our money can provide for our children.
Amazingly, this program costs less than many other less-qualified preschools and day cares in Austin!
For all of these reasons, I choose to make private donations to support the San Jacinto center. "

"Watching my son thrive at UTCDC has been an absolute treasure. Walking through the hallways, seeing all teachers know your child by their name and observing the vibrancy in the educational environment, you can’t help but feel immensely grateful for the work happening here.
Equally as important, is the support for the teachers the administration provides and encourages from parents. From the pantry drives to the room parent program, we can see the value they place on teachers overall well-being at UTCDC."

"We recently moved to Austin and had to reestablish all of our connections, which at the top of our list was early childhood education for our son. We have never once doubted that he is being handled with love, care and a great support system thanks to the UTCDC-San Jacinto. Not only are the teachers and staff welcoming every day we come in, they also helped our son adjust to a new environment which can be tricky for a 4 year old. UTCDC is in such a unique position to not only utilize the resources of this great university, but also allow working parents the convenience of having our children close by."
