Who We Are

Disability and Access (D&A) ensures students with disabilities have equal access to their academic experiences at the University of Texas at Austin by determining eligibility and approving reasonable accommodations. D&A also engages in outreach education to students, faculty and staff across campus in order to make campus a more inclusive, accessible and welcoming environment for people with disabilities.

What We're Fundraising For

The role of D&A is to ensure that all students have equal access to their educational experiences. To achieve this goal, D&A works to identify and eliminate ableist physical, instructional and attitudinal barriers by fostering awareness through providing trainings, tabling at events, and sharing resources within the UT community. 

D&A's outreach efforts are a year-long process that begins at UT's Welcome Week with D&A's Accommodations Orientation and continues throughout the academic year to Disability Graduation, a ceremony to celebrate UT graduates with disabilities. With your generous support, D&A would use 40 for 40 funds be able to expand the scope of both of these events in order to make students with disabilities feel seen, welcomed, and appreciated.

Your Impact

Outreach events provide an opportunity for Disability and Access to help empower students to utilize campus resources to enhance their experiences at UT. As the number of students with disabilities at UT continues to grow each year, D&A is continuously growing our programming. Your generous donations would be used to strengthen the impact of our Accommodations Orientation and Disability Graduation events by allowing D&A to:

• Book larger spaces to accommodate growing audiences
• Provide supplemental materials (such as graduation programs and certificates, food, and promotional merchandise) to attendees
• Facilitate meet-and-greet events to foster community connections for new students
• Get the word out to the UT community about D&A events

Enhancing the quality of these events promotes a sense of belonging for students with disabilities and sends a message to students that UT invests in resources, supports, and community-based programming for students with disabilities.
