Who We Are

Texas Judo is the co-ed Judo club at the University of Texas at Austin! We welcome and take pride in training Judoka of all skill levels-- from new members who have no prior Judo experience to highly experienced Judoka! Affordability, safety, cleanliness, sportsmanship, and fun are our club's top priorities, and we do our best to demonstrate these qualities with each and every practice.

We strive to always keep our club low-cost for our members, historically covering equipment, sanitation, first-aid, and expensive tournament costs such as registration, travel, food, and lodging.

Help Us Keep Our Club Affordable and Accessible! 

Our recently high membership and tournament participation proves that our open-dojo policy and time/cost flexibility all create a fostering environment for our members. With the help of donors like you, we can continue to keep our club open to anyone who is interested in pursuing our sport. 

Our members have a range of goals, from having fun to staying fit to competing in large tournaments, to finding a group to be a part of. We love to support our members in the pursuit of their goals in a variety of ways, including but not limited to covering equipment costs and tournament fees, which can get very expensive, especially for a quickly-growing club like ours. 

Our membership grew by about 200% from 2020 to 2021, and in Fall 2021, we took a record 30 Judoka to College Station to participate in the Go Shibata Memorial Tournament. With 24 competitors, our club's members earned 10 medals in various divisions!

We are non-profit and run entirely by students, and our dues are only $40 for each semester. While these dues help us cover base expenses, generous funds will go towards maintaining and sanitizing our practice space, staying stocked with equipment, and continuing to attend high-level competitions as a team. 

With your help, we can continue to support our members so by not only covering competition costs, but also by supporting the members who simply want to learn a martial art in a clean, safe, and accessible environment. 

Your Impact

With the help of our generous donors’ gifts, Texas Judo is able to pay for tournament entry fees, travel fees, practice equipment, sanitation equipment, uniforms, and club apparel for our students. The ability to attend tournaments in club garb helps build close bonds between our members that last a lifetime. Additionally, visiting tournaments in Texas Judo apparel helps spread the name of both Texas Judo, and the University of Texas at Austin. Texas Judo represents UT with pride, and we can continue to do so with your help. 

For many of us, the Judo club has become a home away from home. We would like to open our arms and extend this family, but we cannot do so without our donors’ support. Anything you can provide will go towards bettering our members and their Judo experience with us!
