Who We Are
Our mission is to educate the next generation of nursing professionals and prepare our students to address issues affecting the health of our communities. Show your support for the UT Austin School of Nursing during this spring’s 40 Hours for the 40 Acres!
What We’re Fundraising For
Our Area of Greatest Need supports a wide variety of areas within the School and ensures that we are able to address students, faculty, and staff needs in a timely manner. This fund provides us with the flexibility to seek new opportunities to support innovative, hands-on education, engage in research, maintain state-of-the-art facilities, and emergency funding to support nursing students experiencing hardship. With your support, we stand ready to support and educate skilled, compassionate nurses in whatever situation comes our way!
For more than 20 years, The School of Nursing Wellness Centers have put education and research into practice by providing comprehensive primary care services to the under-represented and uninsured of Central Texas. We also provide immunization clinics, sports physical clinics and case management services to families living in the Del Valle area. Our clinics serve as a training site for future Registered Nurses, Family Nurse Practitioners, Pediatric Nurse Practitioners, Mental Health Nurse Practitioners and more. Your support is vital to help us provide excellent, equitable care for every patient that walks through our doors.
Our Simulation and Skills Labs provide an environment for students to practice and demonstrate nursing skills in a state-of-the-art educational facility that incorporates simulated, realistic learning experiences. In addition to utilizing digital educational tools, we also offer certification classes. As an American Heart Association (AHA) approved training site, we issued over 1,200 Basic Life Support (CPR), First Aid and Nurse & Patient Safety Certifications to UT Austin employees, students and community health care professionals this past year. Your support helps students transition classroom learning into hands-on performance in the clinical setting.
Our Office of Student Services serves both prospective and enrolled School of Nursing students by providing support for admission, registration, scholarships, campus services, career preparation and job placement. Our Student Services staff empowers students to achieve their dreams beyond academics through professional development, peer mentorship and solidarity among our cohorts. Your support ensures that every new graduate is confident and ready to start the next chapter of their nursing career.
Your Impact
With the support of generous donors like you, we continue to educate and prepare a new generation of exceptional, skilled, and compassionate nurses. We are proud to share that we ushered in a total of 224 Texas Nursing graduates during the 2021-22 academic year. These graduates will go on to care for our communities, continue groundbreaking research and educate our next generation of nurse leaders. Together we will keep our communities safe and healthy!
