Longhorn Athletic Training Student Association

Who We Are

The Longhorn Athletic Training Student Association (LATSA) is a student organization with a sole purpose in promoting the Athletic Training profession in a manner rich in the core values of UT Austin and Longhorn tradition. LATSA is composed primarily of Pre-Athletic Training and Athletic Training majors, but is open to all UT students who desire to further explore the Athletic Training profession and other realms within the field of sports medicine. LATSA’s primary events are bi-weekly meetings, intramural sports, social events, annual Tina Bonci 5K, fundraisers and other miscellaneous events focused on serving the Austin community.

What We’re Fundraising For

The Longhorn Athletic Training Student Association prides itself in providing its constituents with opportunities to make them successful beyond the Forty Acres. LATSA is constantly looking for ways to fundraise and create opportunities for its members to participate in workshops, purchase materials required for skill enhancement and provide avenues for students to network and develop professionally. LATSA also likes to reward its most noteworthy members and provide activities that offer stress relief in the midst of a chaotic academic and clinical schedule.

Your Impact

Your gifts will have a huge impact on LATSA. As an underclassman, it seemed like LATSA had very little to offer my peers and I. As I advanced through the first half of my college career it became clear that insufficient funds were to blame for some of LATSA's limited opportunity. Thankfully, the attitude within our student organization began to shift in the past few years and the efforts to fundraise became more intentional and effective. These efforts have allowed LATSA to provide members with scholarship money, sports medicine related gifts for its senior members, and financial support to members who attended the annual National Athletic Training Association convention. LATSA has set goals to increase its fundraising efforts further so that it can better serve and equip its students for life beyond college.

Currently, LATSA is looking to provide a reimbursement to members who attend the Southwest Athletic Training Association Competency Workshop, as well as supporting our Quiz Bowl team. This event consists of info sessions, hands-on workshops, the board of certification exam preparation, and the ability for students to network with noteworthy athletic trainers within the southwest region. As a current upperclassman member, it is very rewarding to be able to witness and experience the newfound opportunities that your generous donations contribute to.
