Who We Are
Texas Rock Climbing is the official competitive rock climbing team at University of Texas at Austin, and it represents UT Austin in the Collegiate Climbing Series. This team is built on psych, hard work, high spirits, and determination.
What We’re Fundraising For
Texas Rock Climbing is fundraising in 40 for Forty in order to lower individual costs of sending our members to competitions. Sending members to compete includes registration, travel, food, and sometimes lodging expenses. We are also fundraising to buy climbing gear for our members to use in outdoor climbing trips, where our members learn climbing safety and skills that they can use throughout their lives.
Texas Rock Climbing holds two climbing competitions every year at Austin Rock Gym. These competitions bring our community members together and let us build connections with collegiate climbing teams from other universities. When these teams host their own competitions, the donors' gifts will let us send our competitors to their competitions at a lower individual cost. Our team also makes trips outside to climb and to clean up trails to give back to the outdoor community of Austin. The respect for outdoors and essential climbing and safety skills that our organization teaches has a positive impact that lasts for the rest of our members' lives. Additionally, rock climbing is becoming an Olympic sport and gaining more publicity. Texas Rock Climbing's strong presence at collegiate climbing competitions at a local, regional, and national level can continue with the support of our donors and bring more attention to the University.
