Who We Are
UTeach-Liberal Arts is a professional middle and high school teacher preparation program for The University of Texas at Austin undergraduate and post-baccalaureate students planning to teach English, languages other than English, or social studies. Our four-semester program aims to transform secondary school teacher certification from the ground up with a balanced practical and theoretical approach to teacher preparation.
What We’re Fundraising For
Now more than ever, our UTeach-Liberal Arts students need your support. These funds will go directly to our students to help defray the costs of certification and expenses during the student teaching semester. The work of these future teachers will play an essential role to the success of our communities.
In the final semester of the program students are full-time student teaching in an unpaid internship. There is considerable financial need during this time.
"This scholarship has significantly alleviated some of the stress that comes with the rigor of student teaching. I am able to worry less about finances and focus more on my students, as well as have the flexibility to get materials to supplement my lessons and my students' classroom experience as needed. I am incredibly grateful to everyone that supports the UTeach-Liberal Arts program and recognizes how essential it is to support emerging teachers support the growth of their students."
"Receiving a scholarship from the UTeach-Liberal Arts program has been an incredible help to me. I am a first-generation college student and educator who has had to work to put myself through college; this scholarship has given me room to breath as I complete my education and earn my degree. Any scholarship, no matter how big or small, helps to open doors for me and other students like me, and I am forever grateful."
