At Texas Law, we prepare students for great careers at the highest levels of the legal profession.
We do that by giving the best students from Texas and beyond access to a Texas Law education through affordable tuition and plentiful scholarship for deserving applicants.. We do it by clearing the pathway from graduation to work by helping students prepare for the bar exam and professional licensing. And we do it by stepping up with top-of-the-line fellowships, internships and career support for students in good times and bad—such as when a global pandemic affects the job market.
Alumni support is essential to ensuring we can provide the scholarship, programs, and support that build student success and produce great lawyers to contribute to a vibrant Texas in the 21st Century.
Please be part of the greatness of Texas law.
What We’re Fundraising For
Law Scholarship Fund: Texas Law has long been called “the finest ideal in American legal education.” That’s because we have always been able to provide Texans, and those lucky enough to get here, a top-tier education without top-tier debt. Did you know that Texas Law’s tuition is nearly $20K a year less than any other top 20 law school? It’s no wonder U.S. News has consistently ranked us as the best return on investment of any peer school. Still, at $37K a year tuition for in-state students, Texas Law isn’t always affordable. Through alumni supported endowments, we can offer scholarships to meritorious students with need and help them get through law school without the burden of crushing debt. Support for students is always our number one priority.
Bar Prep: Law school is three challenging, though rewarding, years of hard work and constant effort. But that alone doesn’t make one a lawyer! Before entering practice, all graduates must sit for the bar exam in the state they intend to work. Preparing to take the bar exam, which happens during the summer immediately after graduation, is its own grueling—and potentially expensive—process. Bar passage is made far easier by enrolling in proper bar prep summer courses. Texas Law’s Office of Student Affairs bar prep series of workshops and bar-related summer resources for students are an invaluable resource and contribute to higher passage rates and an easier transition to practice.
Student Emergency Fund: Texas Law established the Student Emergency Fund in response to the Covid-19 pandemic. While first focusing on getting all students reliable technology for remote learning, and addressing housing and food insecurity, the fund is now dedicated to assisting students whose summer work or post-graduation jobs have been altered by the changed employment landscape. New funds will create new fellowships and paid internships to keep students working and primed for a long, successful career in the law.
Your gift today will help Texas Law fulfill its commitment to be the best place in the world to be a law student by providing critical support for scholarships, programs, and opportunities that produce great lawyers for a vibrant Texas.
