Who We Are
We are the American Society of Civil Engineers. We are the professional organization at UT for all civil engineers and people interested in civil engineering. We help our members understand what we do in the field by bringing in UT Alumni that work in various fields of civil engineering. This lets them learn from professionals and ask questions about potential career paths. Our members can also engage in mentorship opportunities led by our upperclassmen where the underclassmen can ask about classes, internships, and other topics. We also promote connections and friendships through socials and volunteer work. Additionally, we also encourage our members to apply their skills in our yearly design competition and symposium where they can work on a plethora of projects.
What We're Fundraising For
The UT chapter of the American Society of Civil Engineers is the professional organization for civil
engineers. Our mission is to guide our civil engineers through UT by introducing and developing their
skills in the different aspects of our profession; one such way is to compete in ASCE's annual Design
Competition and Symposium. In this event, our students compete in different activities that
challenge them to be innovative. For example, concrete canoe. In this event, students have to make a
canoe out of concrete and race it against other universities; it requires students to become creative and
research what materials will result in a concrete that can float on water while supporting 2
to 3 paddlers. In addition to concrete canoe, we participate in concrete
bowling, steel bridge, timber strong, surveying, and many more. All these competitions
help develop our students into capable engineers that can solve complex problems while building
camaraderie. As proud students of the UT we would like to increase the
prestige of this amazing university by displaying our ingenuity, resourcefulness, and engineering prowess.Although we are among the top performing colleges at our competition, we want to be better. We have the spirit and drive to accomplish our goals, but we also need the funds to match our dreams. Our funds will be going towards purchasing materials, transporting our project and people, and training our
students. So join us in helping ASCE raise UT to another level!
