Who We Are
Texas Immersive Institute at Moody College of Communication is providing access to emerging technology and design-based research for artists, scientists, and humanists to use immersive storytelling techniques to share solutions to big problems that are responsive, responsible, and remarkable. Through innovative content that is interactive and experiential, we research, design, and develop immersive experiences with students, faculty, and corporate partners to help them imagine the future of media and how we engage with it. This requires a fundamental shift in how people live and interact with each other. We strive to ensure our community lives at the intersection of culture and commerce such that consumers can engage through a blend of physical, digital and voice environments with ease.
What We're Fundraising For
Every fall, we take our advanced students (we like to refer to them as Explorers) on a trip to Los Angeles. This has been a valuable trip for the students as they are able to meet industry professionals, explore the highly acclaimed immersive experiences in the city and get behind the scenes access from some of the leading companies in the immersive field. Last year, we had several students come home with internships, mentors and endless inspiration. The students always recall this as one of their most impactful experiences while an active Explorer. We do our best to keep costs low by getting discounted hotel rates and group ticket discounts but many of our students still do not have the means to attend and we want every Explorer to have this potentially life changing opportunity.
Your Impact
The trip to LA provides the TXI Explorers with a once in a lifetime experience by giving them access to industry professionals, unique immersive experiences and incredible chance for team building. Last year, we were able to grant a few scholarships to help more students come but we never want money to be a reason why a student misses out on this opportunity with their peers.
