Aerospace Engineering and Engineering Mechanics

Who We Are

The Department of Aerospace Engineering and Engineering Mechanics at The University of Texas at Austin is an interdisciplinary department with teaching and research activities in astronautics, earth-space engineering and science, aviation, energy, robotics, theoretical and experimental mechanics, and computational engineering. We offer programs in aerospace engineering (top 10 ranked programs), computational engineering, and engineering mechanics. Students have the opportunity to participate in a wide variety of extracurricular programs including hands-on, project-based teams, leadership and networking organizations, and undergraduate research labs. Graduate students work alongside world-renowned faculty to solve important global and societal problems. At UT Aerospace, the sky is not the limit!

What We're Fundraising For

Funds raised from 40 for Forty will:

Help shape the next generation of engineers through mentorship and experiential learning opportunities that support the Senior Capstone Design program and interdisciplinary student-led organizations like the Texas Rocket Engineering Lab (TREL) and Women in Aerospace for Leadership and Development (WIALD).

Allow our students to attend national/international competitions while gaining valuable real-world experiences on engineering teams.
Support our new comprehensive Launch Texas program that integrates world-class technical and entrepreneurial education, fundamental and applied space research and outreach in a collaborative environment.

Your Impact

Fundraising impacts our project-based student teams and programs, which rely on external support, supports graduate students like Hailey Nichols who earned a master's degree in aerospace engineering while launching a startup company, and helps us provide equitable opportunities and an inclusive environment for all students, faculty and staff.
