Who We Are
Founded in 1986 by DeLoss Dodds, the Longhorn Foundation is the official fundraising arm of Texas Athletics. Longhorn Excellence is a designation of the Longhorn Foundation's Annual Fund dedicated to creating a competitive edge for Texas student-athletes in academics, athletics, and life. Through the generosity of Longhorn Foundation members, Texas Athletics annually supports the educational and competitive pursuits of more than 550 student-athletes.
Texas Athletics exists to develop student-athletes through their connection to master coaches, elite performance centers, and focused academic nurturing. Investing in the Longhorn Foundation supports instilling the passion, knowledge, and character for all student-athletes to compete to win, study academically, achieve their dreams and contribute to society.
What We’re Fundraising For
Our mission is to prepare students to win with integrity—in academics, in athletics, and life. With that, our goal is to continue to fundraise for our student-athletes by collecting unrestricted Longhorn Excellence gifts.
Gifts made to Texas Athletics during this spring’s 40 Hours for the Forty Acres campaign will support Texas student-athletes and their athletic programs. Funds collected through this campaign will be awarded to Longhorn Excellence and will support the overall student-athlete experience through education, nutrition, recruiting, travel, sports medicine, facilities improvement and student-athlete development.
As the fundraising department of Texas Athletics, The Longhorn Foundation relies on annual contributions from our donors to fuel our operations and the need for continued financial support.

Texas Athletics sustains its own operations and the educational and competitive pursuits of more than 550 student-athletes. With your gift, our Longhorns can remain at the forefront of collegiate athletics.
- $48.04 provides a student-athlete with the proper daily meals they need to keep their body in top-notch shape
- $490.54 gives a student-athlete one month of world-class nutrition from our Texas Athletics Nutrition Center
- $4,466.47 offers one year of academic support, such as tutoring and learning services, to a student-athlete
- $9,335.93 provides a student-athlete with the proper care and recovery support they receive from our sports medicine department for a year
- $88,662.81 helps fund a student-athlete for the full cost of their attendance
