Who We Are
Student Activities is the hub for student organization involvement on campus. We facilitate opportunities for students to get involved, learn and grow as student organization leaders, and maintain successful and sustainable organizations.
UT Austin student organizations are the epitome of “What Starts Here Changes the World” by making impacts both locally and around the globe!
Student Activities highlights the achievements of student organizations through the Swing Out Awards which are presented at our annual Evening of the Stars Ceremony each spring.
What We're Fundraising For
Awards and recognition of outstanding student organizations on our campus are important. Past research has indicated recognition of achievement is a motivational factor for college students. Through our 15 Swing Out Awards categories, we recognize 14 outstanding organizations and one advisor for their accomplishments at our end-of-year Evening of the Stars Ceremony. Since 2010, Student Activities has recognized over 360 organizations through the Swing Out Awards. To increase the opportunities for engagement and recognition, Student Activities will introduce three new Swing Out Award categories for student organizations in spring 2023. The three new awards presented at the 17th annual Evening of the Stars celebration are outstanding programming, outstanding service to the community, and the HornsLink Award. The funds raised will cover the $500 monetary prize awarded for each category.
The funds we receive from this campaign will support three student organizations that embody Living the Longhorn Life. They do it by creating outstanding programming, performing community service, and engaging new and continuing students throughout the year. At UT Austin, 49% of our student organizations have fewer than 24 members. The financial impact of the awards is significant for these organizations’ operations.
Each winning organization will receive a $500.00 prize and banner that honors their achievement during our annual Evening of the Stars Awards Ceremony. Our awards and recognition program has motivated and inspired students to accomplish their goals on campus and in the community. Your generosity can assist us in rewarding Longhorns that change the world!
