University Health Services

Who We Are
University Health Services (UHS) at The University of Texas at Austin provides healthcare and public health leadership to support UT students in reaching their optimal health so they can achieve their academic and personal potential.

UHS belongs to the 11% of student health centers in the United States that are accredited either by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care or the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations.

During the 2020-2021 academic year, UHS hosted nearly 45,000 student visits by 14,000+ unique patients through in-person and telehealth services. These clinics and ancillary services include general medicine, urgent care, women's health, sports medicine and physical therapy, integrated mental health, allergy/immunizations/travel health clinic, STI testing, x-rays and ultrasounds, and nutrition services.

Highly utilized clinics during the 2020-2021 academic year included Proactive Community Testing (138,000+ asymptomatic COVID-19 tests), laboratory testing (nearly 50,000 visits), and general medicine (nearly 17,000 visits).

The high-quality medical facility is staffed by licensed professionals including physician assistants, nurse practitioners, physical therapists, registered dietitians, and board-certified physicians practicing in the areas of family medicine, internal medicine and sports medicine.

Our Fundraising Needs
UHS is committed to offering affordable healthcare to all UT students. The funds we raise will be used to help reduce the costs of services for students without health insurance. About 28% of students who seek healthcare at UHS each year are uninsured or underinsured, well above the national average. A lack of health insurance may prevent students from seeking important healthcare, potentially leading to further complications.

Your Impact
Healthcare costs are often an unbudgeted expense for students who sometimes work multiple jobs to meet their basic needs. Your gift will help UT students with limited financial resources receive financial assistance for healthcare services at UHS, which frees them up to get and stay healthy without the burden of wondering how to pay for that care.
