Black Health Professions Organization

Who We Are

The purpose of the Black Health Professions Organization is to foster an environment that supports minority undergraduates in their efforts to enter into a healthcare-related professional school. BHPO works to connect students with resources including networking, shadowing healthcare professionals, volunteering, and test prep. Though we are not a social organization, members benefit from a close-knit group that uplifts one another beyond professional development and engages with the local community to improve health outcomes.

What We're Fundraising For

Help fund BHPO to continue providing healthcare opportunities to pre-health minorities to better help them serve and bridge representation disparities amongst health care professions. Two major events we greatly fund are the annual health symposium and the annual AMEC Conference which both occur in the spring. Funding for these events would greatly aid in making this a reality to not just our members but to other pre-health students who greatly depend on events of this nature to make connections and establish networks with established healthcare professions, and receive guidance needed on the pre-health journey.

Your Impact

The gifts from prospective donors would greatly aid progress not just to our organization but also the lives of the pre-health undergraduates that dwell within. Since this org is a service org dedicated to pre-health activities, we make it a priority in providing our members with opportunities that would enhance their well-roundedness for professional schools (i.e medical, dental, pharmacy, PT, PA school, etc). Because our members are mostly of BIPOC (Black indigenous, and people of color) identities from underserved backgrounds, it would be much harder for them to access these opportunities on their own if BHPO lacked proper funding.
