Who We Are
Texas Cycling is the cycling club for The University of Texas at Austin. As both a student organization and competitive sports team, the club seeks to promote the sport of cycling on campus and facilitate rider development. Students at every level come together for road cycling, mountain biking, track cycling, and cyclocross. Student-athletes compete in the Division I within the USA Cycling South Central Collegiate Cycling Conference against regional schools. Our club also stays involved in the community through bike safety clinics, charity events, and regular volunteering.
What We’re Fundraising For
Cycling is an amazing sport, and we feel it is our duty to introduce it to as many members of the UT community as possible. However, for many people, the cost associated with gear, travel, and race entry, among other things, can result in undue stress. We aim to help offset these costs for our members, allowing us to open the doors (or, more fittingly, unblock the roads!) that cycling offers to its many participants.
Team funds are used to sponsor four riders (two men, two women) who would otherwise be unable to participate in cycling. The sponsorships are awarded to those with a demonstrated need for support, and a passion for riding and racing. Uniforms, travel, licenses, and competition costs can place an undue burden on the already strained finances of a collegiate scholar-athlete. Your gift will give an opportunity to those who wish to participate in creating memories that will last a lifetime.
By partnering with local organizations such as Inside Books Project, UT Student Government, Holland Special Events, and more, we use our talents to contribute to worthy causes within and outside of our discipline. Your gift helps our team to contribute more to the Austin community by leveraging the spirit of UT students.
