Who We Are
The University of Texas at Austin Men's Rugby team competes in the Red River Rugby Conference, playing in both 7s and 15s. We participate in the top division of college rugby, the CRAA and we are sanctioned by the Texas Rugby Union. Our club travels to and hosts teams from all across the country ranging from teams within our division, such as Texas A&M, OU, LSU, and Baylor, to out-of-division teams such as BYU and Michigan State. We foster a community and culture of respect, integrity, and hard work to help further our players' goals while furthering the representation of our great home, The University of Texas.
What We’re Fundraising For
The initiative that we are fundraising for is to acquire the necessary equipment that our organization needs in order to meet our full potential and be prepared for our matches. Specifically, the item of need at the moment is a Scrum Sled. This sled is very much needed for our team to practice our in-game scrum techniques and would allow us to propel our players’ individual skills far beyond what is currently available, especially given that Covid prevents us from person on person contact in our current training.
Your gifts are directly used towards our equipment goals, such as the Scrum Sled, traveling expenses within our division, payments for our amazing coaches and trainers, and general gear such as practice jerseys, balls, and tackling shields. Historically, more than half of our team's funds have come from donations and gifts where the remaining portion comes from each of the players’ pockets. Donations and gifts not only provide the necessary funds for our club to function, but directly help the students representing the university perform to the highest caliber a Longhorn can strive to.
