Who We Are
The Division of Student Affairs influences the life of every Longhorn. Every day we’re making the Longhorn life as rewarding and memorable as possible. The Division of Student Affairs is a laboratory for the college experience. We’re constantly crafting new opportunities for students to discover who they are and where they want to go. Our goal? To transform students while they are Living the Longhorn Life®.
Students at Longhorn Fair – Fall 2021
Led by Vice President for Student Affairs and Dean of Students Soncia Reagins-Lilly, the Division of Student Affairs works with many partners to influence our students in Living the Longhorn Life®. The Division’s nine departments, 37 units and 39 facilities offer first-class programs, facilities, and services. Living the Longhorn Life® can be defined in three phrases - You do you, you are here, and you change the world. Here in the Division of Student Affairs we have a commitment to our students in their journey. We work to expand and provide resources that every Longhorn deserves to be successful on the Forty Acres and beyond.

What We’re Fundraising For
You have many ways to give back to The University of Texas at Austin. Every school, department and program on campus is deserving of support, but the Division of Student Affairs is unique. We shape the life of every student Living the Longhorn Life®. When alumni think of their time spent here on campus, it’s the Division of Student Affairs that, quietly and constantly, defines their memories. We are your “college years.”
Your gift to the Division of Student Affairs will have an immediate and wide-ranging impact. You can ensure that every Longhorn is healthier, safer and better poised to make the most of their college years and beyond. The NOW Fund is our unrestricted fund, used to both address urgent student needs and make long-term investments in student services.
Student Affairs’ Summer Internship Program – Summer 2019
In addition to meeting critical on-campus challenges — such as the Counseling and Mental Health Center and UT Outpost Food Pantry and Career Closet — the NOW Fund also helps launch pivotal programs such as the Student Affairs Internship Program and Dinner with 16 Longhorns.
Student Affairs' Summer Internship Program
This fund was able to support the launch of the Division of Student Affairs' Summer Internship Program which began in summer 2019 with 19 students. In summer 2021, 39 students were selected out of the 679 students who applied for these now-coveted roles. This internship program aims to provide students professional experience through a 10-week, project-based internship with a department in the Division of Student Affairs. Each internship is guided by core career competencies to ensure students are gaining transferable skills for their future.
Dinner with 16 Longhorns
Dinner with 16 Longhorns is a program that brings 16 students from across campus together to create a space for genuine dialogue over dinner. Our goal is for friends of the university to host this dinner in their home. At the dinner, students connect with one another in a comfortable and encouraging setting.
The NOW Fund is how you can be certain your gift will open opportunities that students wouldn’t otherwise have. Please consider making a gift to ensure all students have the chance to unlock their full potential.

Your Impact
“I decided to try something new and put myself out there. I usually do not attend big events, but I liked the small social atmosphere of just 16, so it was perfect for me. My expectations were an awkward atmosphere. I thought maybe we all wouldn’t get along or just wouldn’t speak up that much, but those expectations were completely false. Everyone had to chip-in at some point, and the socialization was very nice and clear to understand. It impacted me in a positive aspect as I felt the warmth of a home away from the UT campus. I love how they engaged us in conversation. If someone wasn’t speaking as much or faded from conversation, they would get reeled back in, so we could see all perspectives of the questions being asked. The main aspect I took from this event was how comfortable and safe I could feel around students I just met a few minutes prior.”
