Texas Global

Who We Are

International education is more critical than ever in today’s increasingly interconnected world. UT is committed to educating global citizens with innovative teaching and research that changes lives to address the world’s greatest challenges.

Texas Global advances UT Austin’s academic mission by leading, supporting, and coordinating the university’s international engagement efforts; fostering strategic partnerships on campus and abroad; welcoming a cadre of impressive international students and scholars to campus; and creating opportunities for students and faculty to engage with peers and institutions around the world.

What We Are Fundraising For

  • International Student Scholarships
  • Education Abroad Scholarships
  • President’s Award for Global Learning

Your Impact

Your support truly transforms the lives of Longhorns while contributing to the university’s international reputation and global impact. “What starts here changes the world” is not just our motto, it’s our way of life.

International Student Scholarships

International students have faced significant challenges during the pandemic and we are eager to welcome them back to campus and support them during their academic journey.

Tuition and the cost of living can make it difficult for students from around the world to come to UT. International students have limited access to financial aid and employment opportunities. Providing scholarships helps remove financial obstacles and draw global talent to UT, giving all Longhorns the opportunity to learn in an intercultural academic environment.

Your support will transform the life of an international student and strengthen the university’s ability to enroll more international students, regardless of geography and financial means, ensuring that they can participate fully in their education.

“As international students, we sometimes face a lot of hardships, but just having this financial support helps us to study more, to develop as people and to be able to give back to society. All of your help has changed my life.”

– Marifer Saldaña Gonzalez, B.B.A. '19

Education Abroad Scholarships

UT Austin has one of the highest rates of study abroad participation in the nation and offers more than 400 immersive academic, internship, and service-learning programs in 100 countries. But for many Longhorns, the cost of education abroad programs can be a significant obstacle, particularly for first-generation students, and 60 percent of UT students studying abroad rely on financial assistance.

Your gift will make education abroad accessible to all students, giving them the chance to build tangible skills and gain the experiences necessary to lead and succeed in a globally competitive workplace.

Reflecting on my experience, I feel like I have learned a lot of important life lessons while I’ve been here. I never wanted to be that overly dramatic study abroad kid that goes on and on about how studying abroad changed their life, but honestly, studying abroad has really changed my perspective on a lot of things.”

– Avi Minocha, computer science major, studied abroad in Singapore

President’s Award for Global Learning

The President’s Award for Global Learning empowers students and faculty to examine global challenges while incorporating in-country learning into the classroom experience. Faculty and students work across academic disciplines to innovate and explore new ideas and solutions across the world.

Your support will help fund hard costs, equipment, student travel, and other expenses associated with the research and projects carried out by the students and communities with whom they work around the world.

With your help, the program can have an even greater impact—on the students, the faculty, the university, and the communities involved. The more funding raised, the more students and communities can participate.

“This program is a great opportunity for ambitious undergrads to collaborate and bring a project to life. Most importantly, this program has given me the opportunity to take part in something much larger than myself by hopefully impacting the world and moving the needle on a global issue.”

– Rebecca Chen, 2018 President’s Award Winner: Africa (The Color Complex: Unraveling the Stigma of Colorism in Global Communities)

Thank you for your support! You prove that “what starts here changes the world” is not just our motto, it’s our way of life. The university and our students will be forever changed by your generosity.
