Who We Are
The mission of the Gender and Sexuality Center (GSC) is to provide opportunities for all members of the UT Austin community to explore, organize, and promote learning around issues of gender and sexuality. The center also facilitates a greater responsiveness to the needs of women and the LGBTQIA+ communities through education, outreach, and advocacy.
What We’re Fundraising For
The GSC kicked off our Crisis Fund in January of 2020. As COVID-19 hit our students the whole way we thought about crisis shifted. This fund is for the gay student who is outed to his parents and all of a sudden is cut off completely, the trans student who has no means to access medical care or the money to change their name on their diploma so it matches the name on their research and resumes, the woman who is struggling to access long term mental health treatment once her sessions at the Counseling and Mental Health Center have run out, and countless other examples of times students have needed a little extra help. With your support, you would be directly contributing to student success, ensuring that all Longhorns thrive and not just survive at UT.
The crisis fund has already helped so many students. We have given out money for medical supplies, food, housing, and other basic needs. Every dollar goes directly to a student who needs it.
