The Blanton Museum of Art is the principal art museum for the vibrant city of Austin and one of the country’s leading university art museums. With a wide-ranging collection of 19,000 works of art, the museum serves as a cultural pillar for campus and the community by offering world-class art experiences that are thought-provoking, visually arresting, and personally moving.
What We’re Fundraising For
Education is deeply embedded into everything we do at the Blanton. Did you know that the museum works with EVERY school and college at UT?! Typically, 25,000 UT students visit each year, either on their own or as part of experiences with original works of art that are integrated into their courses, from the humanities to the sciences. Customized visits actively forge connections between what students are learning and art on view the Blanton.
In response to the pandemic, which led to a pause in our active gallery teaching program, we created new digital resources and teaching tools--short videos, prompts for discussion, creative activities, Zoom presentations, and more--all built around the Blanton's robust collection.
Now, in the 2021-2022 school year, we are excited to once again welcome UT classes back to the museum for in-person gallery experiences, in a limited capacity. These visits offer students unique, object-based learning opportunities, spur inspiration, and nurture community and connection. Our digital education resources will also remain available on our website to further support faculty and students.
