Texas Taekwondo

Who We Are

At Texas Taekwondo, we train in Olympic-style sparring and compete at regional, state, national, and even international levels. We strive to help each of our members find their own path through the sport of taekwondo, whether it be a way to meet new people, discover a hidden inner-athlete, or push themselves to their limits. With such a strong sense of community, including several coaches and a growing alumni network, we are dedicated to being as inclusive and supportive to our members as possible.

What We’re Fundraising For

For most of our members, a year-long training session culminates with the opportunity to compete at the national level in spring. This event is the National Collegiate Taekwondo Championship. As two-time National Collegiate Championship winning team, we at Texas Taekwondo are eager to defend our title and bring back a victory for the third year in a row. In the last two years, we've gone from being the underdogs that no one expected to win to being in the national Taekwondo spotlight.

Our "secret" to success these last two years hasn't been extended training or expensive equipment; it's been our club culture. The bonds that we form with each other at Collegiates are cannot be made elsewhere. They are what contribute to our team being more like a family. We'd like to invite you to join our family and donate to our fundraiser so we can support our athletes and make travel costs as low as possible

Your Impact

In the past, we have used our donors' gifts to finance travel costs and entry fees for athletes that are unable to afford them. It is very important to us as an organization to not let financial situations get in the way of personal growth and development as an athlete. We have also used our donors' gifts to help our team host the 2019 National Collegiate tournament at our very own university, the University of Texas at Austin. Hosting the national tournament at our home school allowed every member of our team to experience the emotions and pressures of competing at such a high level. Unfortunately, the next collegiate tournament will not be occurring on our home turf. Travel costs are expensive, and we want to assist as many athletes as possible. This tournament is important for athletes of all skill levels, as it stimulates growth individually and for our program as a whole.

We are dedicated to fostering an environment where student athletes have room to grow and challenge themselves, both as Taekwondo athletes and as university students. Collegiates creates that environment which is why we aim to send at least 50 people to compete. For college students, travel costs for a team this large can get quite expensive, which is why we need your help! For some of our members, traveling for Collegiates will be their first time to travel as adults, which is a valuable learning experience. Since we are a family, we have older members that act as mentor for the inexperienced members.

Some of the memories that stand out to previous members from Collegiates start around a forgotten piece of gear and ends with the entire team rallying around them to help support them. Collegiates is just as much about the growth of our program as it is of the individual athletes. Every person takes away a unique experience from this tournament, which is extremely powerful in a room full of 50 people who have just fought. This tournament is the one time of the year where our program as a whole gets tested. Here at Texas Taekwondo, we are a family, a collected diverse group of people with all sorts of interests who come together not only to train and kick each other, but to support each other as well.
