What We’re Fundraising For
UT Law Scholarship Fund: Texas Law has long been called “the finest ideal in American legal education.” That’s because we have always been able to provide Texans, and those lucky enough to get here, a top-tier education without top-tier debt. Did you know that Texas Law’s tuition is nearly $20K a year less than any other top 20 law school? It’s no wonder U.S. News has consistently ranked us as the best return on investment of any peer school. Still, at $37K a year tuition for in-state students, Texas Law isn’t always affordable. Through alumni supported endowments, we can offer scholarships to meritorious students with need and help them get through law school without the burden of crushing debt. Support for students is always our number one priority.
Diversity, Equity, Access and Inclusion Projects: As the preeminent law school in Texas and a national leader in legal education, Texas Law is uniquely positioned to set the standard for increasing equity, access and inclusion in the legal community. That starts with improving the opportunities for students from historically underrepresented groups to succeed in law school and enjoy great employment outcomes. Support for our diversity, equity, access and inclusion initiatives will enhance experiences for current Texas Law students and ensure an inclusive environment where diverse thoughts and ideas are heard, valued, and supported.
Loan Repayment Assistance Program (LRAP): Texas has a strong tradition of public service and Texas Law has long been a gateway to civic leadership and work in the public sector. Our LRAP program acknowledges the fact that student debt poses a significant obstacle to those who want—and those our great state needs—to enter public service careers. Loan repayment allows graduates in certain public interest or public service jobs (those with significantly lower salaries) to reduce their student debt while they work for the public good. This helps our students pursue important work and helps public interest organizations with their vital missions. Our communities are better when the best legal talent, Texas Law graduates, can commit to this valuable work. LRAP makes this possible.
Your gift today will help Texas Law fulfill its commitment to be the best place in the world to be a law student by providing critical support for scholarships, programs, and opportunities that produce great lawyers for a vibrant Texas.
