College of Education

Who we are

The College of Education serves the people of Texas, the nation, and the world through transformational research and teaching.  Our work is guided by a deep commitment to community partnership and bridging research to practice.  We respond to the most urgent problems in the field by implementing effective programs and policies and by developing the next generation of leaders to carry this work forward.  We build upon individual, family and community strengths in order to combat disparities in education and health and to promote social justice.

What we’re fundraising for

Scholarship support for undergraduate and graduate students continues to be a top priority for the College of Education. We remain committed to recruiting, enrolling and graduating talented students, who are dedicated to serving their communities and making an impact on the lives of others.

In the midst of ongoing uncertainty, our students continue their coursework, gaining valuable academic and clinical experiences in new hybrid settings. Before COVID-19, more than a third of our undergraduates had full financial need and 66% had significant need. With the economic disruptions caused by the pandemic, that need has only increased. More students need our help. The economic and health challenges are impacting many of our students’ ability to pay for tuition, housing and other education expenses. Students who rely on work to help pay for school are struggling to find employment, while others are encountering hardship because of family members who have lost their jobs.

Now more than ever, scholarship support is crucial for student success. Your gift of any size to undergraduate or graduate scholarships helps ensure that the Forty Acres experience remains accessible for all students, particularly those most affected by this health and economic crisis.

Your Impact

The support of loyal alumni and friends means more today than ever before as our Texas Education community evaluates and responds to the impact of COVID-19 on education and health and commits to renewed action to disrupt longstanding inequities.

Your gift is an investment in the future. The pandemic has reinforced the critical role that educators and health professionals play in shaping lives. Whether you are supporting a future teacher, kinesiology and health education student or graduate student, your gift helps those preparing to make a difference in education and health.

By making a gift in support of undergraduate or graduate scholarships, you are sending a strong message to our students that their work and goals are important and you are invested in their success.

Supporting Texas Education Undergraduates

Texas inspires its students to be bold and ambitious as they pursue their dreams. In the College of Education, our undergraduates are preparing to be leaders in education, health and sport. They are motivated by their goals to change the world each day by changing lives—as teachers, health professionals, coaches, and school leaders.

Many of our programs include robust field experiences, which have been adapted this year to include in-person and virtual learning. Our future teachers are seeing first-hand the essential role that educators play in children’s lives and in the community. Despite the disruptions caused by COVID-19, they continue to participate in student teaching and work alongside current teachers in both virtual and in-person settings.

Our kinesiology and health education students are preparing to become physical therapists, coaches, trainers, sports professionals and more. All KHE programs have an interdisciplinary approach, which includes health behavior and a focus on experiential learning.

Your support creates opportunities for promising undergraduate students who will leave their mark on the world.

 Supporting Texas Education Graduate Students

Graduate students are the driving force behind UT’s extraordinary research accomplishments. Texas Education graduate students work alongside faculty and are strategic partners supporting learning and participating on research teams, tackling critical health and education challenges. Driven by a desire to serve their communities, graduate students pursue new insights into some of the most pressing concerns in education and health and will become the future leaders who will shape policy and practice across the state of Texas and beyond.

Your gift provides immediate support and is a vote of confidence in their future work as leaders and changemakers.
