Feeding Our Central Texas Neighbors
Healthy food is a big part of health.
Today, 1 in 4 Austin households struggle to keep food on the table. The Spirit Food Fund, launched by Spirit Golf Association, is uniting Central Texans in support of University of Texas at Austin and Dell Medical School faculty, student and community partnerships that provide food for our neighbors in need — during the COVID-19 crisis and after.
Delivering groceries to neighbors in need
During the COVID-19 crisis, going to the grocery store or food bank is risky when if you are over 55 years old or have a compromised immune system.
The Spirit Food Fund supports the “Stay Home, Stay Healthy” initiative, an emergency grocery delivery service that helps protect our community’s most vulnerable. Anyone in need of food assistance who is 55 or older or has an underlying health condition can fill out an application, and our partners at Good Apple will deliver free grocery staples and fresh produce straight to their door.
You can help us expand these services today. Your gift of any size to the Spirit Food Fund advances our work to:
Provide nutritious food for people in need
Encourage social distancing in high-risk groups
Create job opportunities for workers affected by the pandemic
