Who We Are
The Freshmen Research Initiative was created about 15 years ago to engage our student in real-life research projects as early as their freshmen year. The program has benefitted thousands of students by increasing 1) retention of underrepresented minorities, 2) graduation rates, 3) graduate applications to STEM fields and more!
What We're Fundraising For
The mission of the UT Wine Initiative (UTWI) is to foster education, research and entrepreneurship in partnership with the Texas wine industry. The goal is to promote interdisciplinary research in the field of wine chemistry, enology, and viticulture of Texas wines. This funding gift will help to establish novel regional knowledge, which will be used to support the development of innovative strategies to advance Texas viticulture and enology. The UTWI will conduct collaborative research with professors within the Freshman Research Initiative (FRI), enhancing undergraduate research opportunities.
This gift will help to 1) fund fellowships for undergraduate students throughout the semester, 2) fund laboratory supplies for research projects and 3) fund attendance to conferences or symposiums.
