Who We Are
Longhorn Powerlifting was established in the 1980s and has maintained its presence at the University of Texas to this day. A competitive sport club under the division of Recreational Sports, Longhorn Powerlifting (LPL) competes at local and national level competitions through the USA Powerlifting (USAPL) federation. Our team’s annual competitions are the Collegiate Cup in San Antonio in the fall semester, the Aggie Showdown in College Station in early spring, and Collegiate Nationals hosted in various locations. We have been fortunate to have had Collegiate Nationals in Texas 2017 and 2018 having been hosted in San Antonio and College Station respectively. Last year, Collegiate Nationals was hosted in Ohio State University.
What We’re Fundraising For
This year 2020 Collegiate Nationals will be held at Penn State University. Our goal is to help cover expenses related to Collegiate National's such as transportation, travel, entry fees, and hotel costs as well as purchase equipment necessary for practice and for future Longhorn Powerlifters to use. Powerlifting meets hosted by us will also see the benefit of this equipment and will not only be for team practices.
Your support will help us establish a foundation for Longhorn Powerlifting and future lifters so we can move forward on other goals such as creating an endowment for LPL members, providing the best equipment for our lifters, and the possibility of hosting a National Meet. Longhorn Powerlifting and its members are thankful for any amount of support and generosity you are willing to provide.
