Who We Are
The Student National Pharmaceutical Association (SNPhA) was founded with a simple yet indispensable mission to serve the underserved. The local University of Texas at Austin SNPhA chapter embodies the national mission through our six dedicated Initiative committees each tasked to educate and connect Austin’s underrepresented communities with health resources. These six committees include Operation Immunization, Fighting Diabetes, Power to End Stroke, Remember the Ribbon (HIV/AIDS), Chronic Kidney Disease, and Mental Health. All committees focus on patient education in addition to providing a variety of crucial health screenings ranging from blood glucose and pressure readings to HIV testing.
What We’re Fundraising For
We require substantial funding to purchase educational handouts and health screening materials in addition to printing posters to present at various events on campus and in the community. The majority of our initiatives require new, up-to-date posters to present to the community. Our HIV/AIDS committee recently incorporated HIV testing by our pharmacy students and the supplies required are over $600 for each event.
We aim to bridge the gap of healthcare for our audiences which include students and community members by providing resources and encouraging them to prioritize their health. We regularly impact upwards of 700 people per semester.
