Below you will find answers to many common questions about 40 Hours for the Forty Acres 2019.
What is 40 Hours for the Forty Acres?
Now in its sixth year, 40 Hours for the Forty Acres is an annual university-wide fundraising event that encourages everyone in the UT Austin community to give to the UT people, places and programs that are meaningful to them. For 40 hours, students, alumni, parents, faculty, staff and friends come together as a community and show their support.
When does it start?
40 Hours for the Forty Acres will run from 6 a.m. Central on Wednesday, April 3, 2019, through 10 p.m. Central on Thursday, April 4, 2019.
Why should I participate in 40 Hours for the Forty Acres?
Philanthropy has become an increasingly critical part of the university’s support. It funds many scholarships for students who otherwise would not be able to attend college and supports the university’s top-notch faculty, state-of-the-art facilities, and hands-on learning opportunities for students. Giving back is one of the greatest things we can do for our university and for future Longhorns. Whether you can give $5 or $500, you are part of Longhorn Nation, and you can help make a difference.
What does my gift support?
It’s up to you! You may designate any area of the university that is important to you. Whether your heart is with your college or school or you have an interest in a specific research initiative or student program at UT, you are free to choose what your gift supports. When you make your gift, you can select from a list of colleges, schools and units.
How do I donate?

How do challenges and matches work?
Challenges and matches are time-sensitive, regulated incentives to make your donations go further. Each challenge and match is explained on the 40 Hours for the Forty Acres page. For full rules and explanations, see 40 for Forty 2019 Official Rules and Challenges.
What if I don't see my school or organization on the list?
