About Our Sisterhood
Tau Beta Sigma is a national honorary band sorority dedicated to serving college band programs. UT’s Beta Gamma Chapter received its charter in 1957 and has served the Longhorn Band ever since. With 68 Active members, we are one of the largest Chapters in the nation.
Sisters of Beta Gamma are brought together by our mutual appreciation for music, service, and sisterhood. Both within the Longhorn Band and in the Austin community, our Chapter works to provide service that embodies these and other values of TBS. Our Chapter’s philanthropy efforts benefit the Make-a-Wish Foundation. Some of our fundraising events, such as "Phlapjacks for Philanthropy," are geared specifically toward raising money for Make-a-Wish. Outside of our chosen philanthropies, we provide service to the band and to our community. Our service to the band includes providing meals during band week to the 400 member Longhorn Band, carrying medkits to all games and rehearsals, and providing water for all members during games. Our Chapter also serves the greater Austin community through external service events such as Mobile Loaves and Fishes, where we help provide food for the homeless, events with St. David’s Medical Center, and “Adopt-a-Schools,” where our chapter joins the band members of local high schools at their football games.
