About the Team:
Established in 1976, the University of Texas Water Ski Team is a Division 2 competitive
collegiate team. The team is dedicated to teaching and spreading the sport of water
skiing to the community and the student body of UT. We are a club team and open our
doors to anyone who wishes to learn the sport. We practice at Frameswitch Ski Club, a
rented facility 32 miles from campus in Taylor, TX.
The team competes in 3-event collegiate tournaments across the South Central US.
The 3 events consist of jump, trick and slalom which test everything from strength to
acrobatic skills on top of the water. If you wish to learn more about these events and the
sport itself, please visit our website listed on the last page of this packet. The team
competes in the South Central Conference, which means we go up against two of the
top teams in collegiate skiing, University of Louisiana Monroe and University of
Louisiana Lafayette. Despite this we have consistently qualified for collegiate nationals
by being one of the top five teams in our region!
The team has grown significantly over the past years boosting our membership and
active skiers from around 12 to 30! We are excited to see where this takes us as a team
but with a larger membership there are also financial hardships and concerns.
Why We Need You Help:
The team is primarily funded by dues paying members and by an official sponsorship from RecSports, the sport club division of the University of Texas at Austin. However, we must share RecSports funding with all the other club programs at UT, so a large portion of our budget must come from dues, fundraising and other sponsors. We try our best to fundraise and reach out to potential sponsors and profit shares so that we can keep dues low and introduce the sport of water skiing to as many students as possible! We hope that with your support we can reduce some of the costs we are facing this year which include, funding for a new tournament team boat, travel to the South Central regional tournaments and replace and buy new ski equipment. We are hoping to jump start a new competitive edge for our team and bring back Texas as a leading force in the world of water skiing. We would appreciate your support in achieving these goals!
