Texas Table Tennis competes with table tennis clubs around the country, having placed as 4th at Nationals in recent years, while maintaining a fun environment where players can grow and help promote the sport around the Austin area. Please help us to raise money as we strive to qualify for and compete at Nationals again. The club needs the resources to continue ensuring that our players have good equipment to practice with (the tables in the RecSports Center were just replaced last year with club money) as well as travel accommodations to collegiate tournaments.
Travel to Nationals – The National Championships for the National Collegiate Table Tennis Association are taking place April 12-14 in Greensboro, North Carolina this year. Nationals is always the focus of our team as we train to challenge the nation’s best, including a couple US National team members at NYU, and when Nationals is far away, travel costs can often be prohibitive for members of the club. Texas Table Tennis tries to cover as much of the airfare and hotel costs as we can, but we cannot do so without continued support from the UT community, who have helped us greatly in the past.
Practice Equipment – Although the club raised money and was able to purchase a new set of 4 tables last year, which are now standing in the RecSports Center for everyone to use, equipment needs extend to other aspects as well. Training and tournament balls are a constant necessity as balls break regularly under training conditions. Additional training equipment such as pick-up nets and catch nets help make drills and training much more efficient, allowing players to maximize their training time.
