Please help Actuarial Science Club raise money to better the academic experience and career preparation for its members. ASC gives its members a unique opportunity to network and learn as they pursue internships and careers, but this is only possible through the resources they are provided.
Manual Library – Actuarial Science Club members have exclusive access to the organization’s library of study Manuals for each exam. However, with the new SOA and CAS changes, these exam materials are becoming obsolete. With your support, ASC will be able to revitalize their library to allow students, who can’t afford the books themselves, the opportunity to succeed in the industry.
Programming Projects – Actuarial students need a strong programming or data analysis foundation before they can be considered a potential candidate for hire. The Actuarial Science Club wants to make sure each member has plenty of opportunity to prepare for a career by creating and offering semester long Excel or SQL Projects. These projects would expose members to how to break down a data set, analyze its information, and present it in a coherent way. Your donation will help us implement an Excel Project this upcoming semester by funding the bi-weekly meetings and final award.
Outreach Programs – Each year organizations have opportunities to reach out and connect with elementary, middle, and high schoolers to show them that STEM is an option to pursue in their future. Events such as Longhorn Halloween, Explore UT, or tutoring at local middle schools are the best routes for outreach, but ASC’s current programs have limited efficacy. Your donation would be used by our Fundraising Committee to create an approachable and understandable game to advertise both Mathematics and Actuarial Science to younger students.
Service Programs – In addition to outreach opportunities, the Actuarial Science Club hosts volunteer events such as Austin Park Clean-up and Tutoring at middle schools. These volunteer opportunities serve two purposes: One, the community is helped and hopefully bettered from the experience and two, our members have an opportunity to leave their studies and look to help others. This develops a culture of support that will grow with our members as they enter the Actuarial Industry. With your donation, ASC will initiate greater service and tutoring programs by providing materials such as notebooks, textbooks, and writing utensils.
