The Michael and Tami Lang Stuttering Institute

The mission of the Michael and Tami Lang Stuttering Institute is to help persons who stutter, their families, and their clinicians through the development, provision and sharing of evidence-based practices, the implementation of progressive clinical training methodologies, and the completion of innovative research with an emphasis on translating theory to practice.

The Michael and Tami Lang Stuttering Institute is a nonprofit organization within UT’s Moody College of Communication. Through volunteer efforts and tax-deductible donations, we provide all of our evidence-based programs at no cost to our participants.

Participation in our evidence-based programs has been proven to benefit both children and adults who stutter in a variety of ways including:

  1. a reduction in the impact of stuttering on their overall quality
  2. an increase in their communication competence and confidence
  3. improvement in their self-esteem and resiliency
  4. a shift in their perspective and understanding that stuttering will not prevent them from achieving their dreams.

We need your help to reduce our significant waitlist – our participants wait an average of 1 year to participate in our programs. Help us to help more children and adults who stutter learn to Dream. Speak. Live. by giving to our 40 for Forty campaign!

Stephen shares what he learned through his participation in our summer intensive therapy program, Camp Dream. Speak. Live.
