In the rapidly changing world of nursing education and research, contributing to the area of greatest need provides the School of Nursing with flexibility to address opportunities and special needs as they arise. 

 

School of Nursing Wellness Centers

 

For more than 20 years, the School of Nursing’s Children’s and Family Wellness Clinics have supported clinical placements for undergraduate and graduate students while providing high quality care. This past year, our students received hands-on training while also completing more than 6,000 appointments. Your support helps us put education and research into practice while providing quality healthcare services in the Austin community.
 

Student Services

 

Scholarship administration and advising are only a part of the story of student services. We also empower students to achieve their dreams beyond academics through professional development and student activities which foster peer mentorship and solidarity among our cohorts. Your support ensures our program provides:

  • Career services for Nursing students - including resume-writing workshops, mock interviews, and job search seminars are an important element of career advancement.

  • Enrichment events and activities - including graduation, the AE-MSN Pinning Ceremony, the White Coat Ceremony, Honors Day, “Welcome Back to School” events, and Gone to Texas. 

 

Learning Enhancement and Academic Progress (LEAP) Center

 

The Learning Enhancement and Academic Progress (LEAP) Center was created to strengthen academic resources and services for students and faculty. Your support ensures the LEAP Center will continue to provide nursing students with experiential services including:

  • Realistic, high-tech simulations which prepare students for common and uncommon clinical situations

  • Innovative Video Exams geared to transforming students from pupil to educator

  • Peer Academic Coaching (PAC) program staffed by top-performing Nursing students or Registered Nurses working on an advanced degree

 

Renovation and Facilities Fund


Active learning spaces are transforming healthcare education in our School of Nursing.  Your support will help us modernize our 40 year old building and breathe new life into our learning spaces.

 

Next up on the SoN’s Renovation list: Bringing our student study spaces on the 3rd and 5th floor into the 21st century!
