Steve Hicks School of Social Work

And we hope you do too. Your gift of any size to the Steve Hicks School of Social Work will support learning opportunities like Washington Calling, reduce student debt through a SWAN scholarship, or simply help us provide the best education by funding needs as they arise.

Scholarships

The Social Work Alumni Network (SWAN) Board brings alumni closer to the School and provides student scholarships annually. This year, they’re raising $3,500 for an award this fall; any additional funds will go to support alumni engagement activities. Individuals who donate to SWAN will receive gifts with the new alumni network logo.

  • $10 – phone stand

  • $20 – water bottle

  • $50 – SWAN Alumni or I Heart SW t-shirt

  • $100 – all of the above, plus 2 tickets to the 10th Annual Tailgate this fall

Washington Calling

The DiNitto Center for Career Services is dedicated to providing the highest level of innovative services to students, alumni, and employers. This spring, it will be hosting Washington Calling for the second year; over 5 days students will meet with and learn from area alumni, explore federal internship opportunities, and learn more about job prospects in policy, advocacy, clinical work, and professional organizations.

Enhancing Student Experience

Through our discretionary funding, we’re able to provide tangible improvements to our students’ experience in our program. Things like upgrading furniture in classrooms and study spaces, installing a new water bottle filler, and hosting networking events are all ways we can create a more holistic learning environment. Last year, with the money raised from 40 Hours for the Forty Acres, the School was able to replace our picnic tables with new, accessible models. (Gifts to this fund will show up as “Area of Greatest Need” on your receipt.)

Graduating in May or August of 2019? Contribute $20.19 to the Class Giving Campaign and help fund future networking events with alumni and students through the Social Work Alumni Network (SWAN)! Donate on the Class Giving HornRaiser and your gift will be MATCHED by the President’s office! Designate your gift to “Other” and then “SWAN”! Leave your legacy!
